The Mixtape Project:

If you are reading this then chances are that you stumbled upon one of my sloppily labeled burned CDs. I burn the disks and give them to friends if they want a playlist. Very rudimentary, very easy to do.

The purpose of this blog is to give song names and artists on mixtape CDs that people choose to put out.

I personally make CDs because I don't enjoy hearing the same songs on radio over and over and over, and then two more times on the next radio station.

Why CDs? Because unlike plugging in an ipod, CDs can be easily given from person to person, thus being by far the most direct way to give someone a song.

Simple enough right?

Dope Shit 1 Track list

It took me a year and a half but I finally am posting the track list from one of my very first mixes that I gave out. In case you don't know, I make mixtapes monthly of what I am listening to, and I like to share my playlist with others in hopes that they will continue to pass the CD around, giving others the chance to hear something they enjoy, or maybe something they never heard before.

1) No one can sell or profit off of a mixtape

- The purpose of this project is NOT to steal artists music and profit off it. The purpose is to expose friends to new artists and songs that they haven't heard, and to give proper credit to the artist. If you are doing this project in hopes of personal gain then you will be disappointed. We are doing this for the music at OUR OWN EXPENSE.

2) If you are playing your mix and someone asks about a song, tell them who it is, and give them your CD so they can listen to it.

3) Never take credit for what is not yours.
- By participating in this project, you are here simply as someone who shows people music, not someone who is trying to make gains off what you are doing.

The Philosophy

The whole reason I've been creating mixtapes is to share the music . Music, is one of the only things in the world that can show our true emotion, as well as tell a story. When you feel down, there is a song for that mood. When you need to vent, I'm sure there's a song that can express that anger. I'm not here to try and tell you what to listen to, but rather what is out there that you might have not discovered yet.

Music is meant to be shared. Without sharing music, artists would never be famous and there would be no reason to write songs, for what good is a song if there is no one there to hear it. My view is that it is the listeners responsibility to pass on music he or she likes. I know that most new songs that come out, are released by the artist, and maybe posted on a blog or youtube. From there, the die-hard fans are the ones who spread the word of the new song. They tell their friends, who tell other friends who go on to post blogs and forums, which then reach even more people. This is what makes music unique, it is up to the fans to decide the hits, not the artist.

I feel that it's important to share the limited part of music that we are all exposed to, and pass it on. I'm not claiming on being an expert or anything, and I know that all of you have good music that should be shared. If you ever feel the need to introduce a good song, shoot me an e-mail about it and I'll definitely listen to it, and try to post it on this blog asap.
